Bruce was appointed Head of Industry Development at Quality Meat Scotland in March 2020. Bruce, who was previously one of QMS's 'Meat with Integrity' feature farmers, is originally from a farm in Strathspey. After studying law at university, he returned to agriculture to help manage an upland beef and sheep unit focused on pedigree cattle and commercial sheep production. He has also spent eight years with the Cairngorms National Park as the lead on agriculture, including management of biodiversity and sustainability focused projects.

As Head of Industry Development for Quality Meat Scotland, Bruce leads a team focused on improving the efficiency and sustainability of red meat production across cattle, sheep and pigs. The team leads on a variety of research and development projects in areas including genetics, nutrition, animal health and welfare, and data capture. Bruce also led on the development and delivery of the current Monitor Farm Scotland programme.
