Hugh Pocock

Hugh Pocock, Committee Member of the British Cattle Breeders Club

Committee Member

Born and raised on his grandparents' dairy farm in Shropshire, Hugh developed a passion for agriculture from an early age. After graduating from Harper Adams University, he spent 16 years with Cogent Breeding Ltd, progressing through senior roles including Head of Genetics, National Sales Manager and Business Development, plus serving as Board Director, where he gained experience in acquisitions and international development. In 2016, Hugh and his wife Kate took on a 150-acre grass-based farm near Whitchurch, Shropshire, where they breed Polled Dorset sheep, Australian Lowline Angus, and Wagyu cattle with a strong focus on sustainability and environmental stewardship. Hugh is also a Director of the British Wagyu Association.

In 2020, Hugh founded Cultura Connect, a global agribusiness recruitment firm specialising in the agriculture, food and forestry sectors. Drawing on his unique perspective from both senior industry roles and understanding client-side recruitment challenges, he has rapidly grown the business with a team of recruitment specialists with agricultural, food and forestry experience. His deep sector knowledge and commercial experience position him as a sought-after voice on talent development and recruitment strategy in the industry.
