Neil McGowan

The McGowan family at Incheoch, in upland Perthshire, run suckler cows and sheep, specialising in producing functional, efficient and robust breeding stock for other stockmen. The 200 suckler cows and 1,100 ewes are run commercially but are all pedigree registered and performance recorded. Neil has been instrumental in developing the on-farm Working Genes sale of breeding rams and more latterly bulls, consisting of Texel and Lleyn rams and Simmental, Luing and Angus bulls. He is a 2015 Nuffield Scholar, having studied 'Selection for Efficiency: breeding better beef and sheep', and was a speaker at BCBC in 2025.
